Tajlandska masaža, nazvana još i pasivnom yogom, temelji se na teoriji energetskih kanala koji prolaze preko cijelog tijela i povezuju sve tjelesne sisteme i organe, a protok energije kroz njih odgovoran je za fizičko, emocionalno i mentalno stanje pojedinca. Masaža se izvodi u ležećem položaju na strunjači, u laganoj i udobnoj odjeći. Nakon početnog informativnog razgovora s terapeutom, terapeut ritmičkim pritiscima slijedi energetske kanale po tijelu, te rukama, stopalima, laktovima i težinom svog tijela stimulira različita područja, počevši od stopala, a završava masažom glave. Energetski tokovi se nalaze oko 2 cm ispod površine kože i stoga je potrebno koristiti pritisak koji će biti dovoljno dubok da stimulira protok energije u njima. Taj se pritisak regulira u skladu s fizičkom kondicijom, konstitucijom i željama pojedinca. Osim fizičke stimulacije mišića, zglobova i drugih tjelesnih struktura efikasno djeluje na energetsku strukturu i živčani sistem te tako potiče duboku relaksaciju i oslobađanje od stresa. Povećava se fleksibilnost tijela, ubrzava se oporavak mišića od bavljenja sportom i drugih napora, otvaraju se energetski tokovi i pospješuje se cirkulacija.

Thai massage, which is also called passive yoga, is based on the theory of energy channels that pass through the whole body and connect all bodily systems and organs, whereas the energy that flows through them is responsible for the individual’s physical, emotional and mental state. The massage is done in a lying position on a mattress, in light and comfortable clothes. After the introductory informative talk with the therapist, the therapist uses rhythmic pressures to follow energy channels in the body, and stimulates different body parts, from the feet to the head, with his/her hands, feet, elbows and the weight of his/her body. Energy flows are located about 2 cm below the skin surface and is, therefore, necessary to use pressure deep enough to stimulate them. The pressure is regulated in accordance with the individual’s physical condition, constitution and preferences. Besides the physical stimulation of the muscles, joints and other body structures, it affects the energy structure and nervous system, and hence encourages deep relaxation and releases stress. It increases body flexibility, speeds up muscle recovery from sports and other activities, opens the energy flow, and enhances circulation.
